Lydia Cornell

Lydia Cornell (Korniloff) – best known for ‘Too Close for Comfort’

IMDB says she is: “One of TV’s most popular sex symbols (understatement), she is now a writer, director, mother, comedienne, talk show host, women and children’s advocate, teen mentor and inspirational public speaker. Sober since September 11, 1994, she is an addiction and recovery expert and podcast host (Godshots).”

As is typical of blonde bombshells, is a very nice and thoughtful person. People like me used to be unable to look past the character they played. She came to mind about 5 years ago when I was on Twitter and found out she was also a conservative columnist. In the vein of Bo Derek, another surprise.

All I know was a channel was rerunning episodes of ‘Comfort’ last year, and I found myself unable to turn away from this goofy show, Lydia was simply that captivating. I actually knew a ‘Lydia’ like her in real life. Spitting image. Had the pleasure of photographing her. She was so nice too. They can be so kind to nerds.

Man she photographs well in B&W. A lot of times its because they have the eyes or the bone structure to support the intense focus it forces on their features.

Found her wonderful high school graduation photo at a FOX News article about her and her career. Look at that luscious red hair!

Well this just makes my day. 5 or 6 years ago I had made a series of posts on “10 Most Beautiful Women” of the various decades 1940’s – 2010’s. THEN I went back and did about 5 individual posts of my absolute most favorite women. As I tried to say in this post, you (if this is Lydia) owned the TV screen like I’ve never seen. Then I realized just now the one other person that had had that effect, Jennifer O’Neill in the movie ‘Summer of ’42’.

But when I couldn’t take my eyes off the TV when you were on, I started thinking back to the magazine coverage back in the mid-80’s. For a period of 3 or 4 years you were arguably the most popular woman in the world, and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person. Its hard to imagine what that must have been like for you? Its crazy, but I’ve just got this feeling you didn’t let your ego get the best of you.

Makes my day, thanks for the comment.

Thank you Jim. Wow, just stumbled upon your articles again and your sweet comment. We are safe from the devastating fires in L.A. but there are red flag warnings today so we packed to evacuate if we receive an alert. Hope you are well and in good spirits. Am writing a book on my Hollywood adventures. More later XOXO

Hey Lydia I can’t believe what you guys are facing out there with the fire. I’ve seen the most horrendous photos of what the fire has done. And all the poor animals. This impact will stretch for years…. Yeah I thought commenters got a notification of a reply, so sorry it went 3 1/2 years for you to see it. I check for your book from time to time. I just got Justine Bateman’s book ‘Face’ yesterday in the mail. Its very interesting. I’m on S3 E10 of TCFC: “Do You Take This Woman Again?” The Audrey Meadows episodes. One of the outfits you wore in it was this light blue sweater (they loved you in that sky blue), it looked like the sweater had moons and planets on it. Very neat! See you on Twitter.

Oops, I better set my notifications so I see when you respond. Thank you for your kind words about the L.A. fires! Several friends of mine lost their homes and entire blocks. It’s been a very strange year.

      Hi Lydia,

I hope this gets back to you, this platform is really iffy. I was so shocked to see your name pop-up, I thought it was a Facebook notification! Life here this past week you would not believe, last Monday we literally had a blizzard that shutdown the interstate, 5 days later (Saturday) we hit 92 degrees! My California friend sent me the temps you’ve been having out there, sounds great.

When I found you on Facebook a few months ago I just LOVE seeing your posts about the fan conventions and the things you are up to. It reaffirms what I’ve picked up about you and your ability to interact with people and the grace you show. I’ll probably never know the events in your life that made you that way, but I find it interesting. The vibe I pick up from you gives me a warm feeling.

I don’t know if it will let me include a picture of Blaze, our 11 yr old kitty we got him 12/10. He is very special. – your friend Jim

(it won’t let me include a photo, so if you get one on Facebook or Twitter of an orange kitty, it’s my Blaze)

Hi Jim!! Just saw your message! Thank you for your kind comments. I do a lot of public speaking in recovery (31 years sober.) It’s all about triumph over tragedy and the inner work it takes to become a functioning human being in society 🙂 I may record a podcast telling the whole story someday, but it’s all in book I’m writing. Have been swamped with babysitting duties for Larry’s 3 grandkids. We had Internet problems and just had all new routers put in. What name do you go by on Facebook? I could’t find you last time I looked. Would love to see the photo of Blaze!

        XO

        More later,

        Lydia
